Tides Institute Acquires Historic Photographs

Eastport - Tides Institute and Museum of Art

Four photographs by William Lyman Underwood (1864-1929) associated with his Passamaquoddy travels have been acquired by the Tides Institute and Museum of Art. Underwood was a noted 19th century nature photographer from Boston. In 1927, his book, Wilderness Adventures, was published describing his travels with Passamaquoddy guide Joe Mell. The photographs, now owed by the Tides Institute were acquired from a collector in California.
