Join Fellow Gardeners for Seedy Sunday in St. Andrews on February 14th
Public Meeting
Sunday, February 14
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm (AT)
St. Andrews - Anglican Hall on King St.
Are you a gardener? Would you like to have access to a wide selection of vegetable, flower, fruit and herb seeds provided free by fellow gardeners from our region?
The 7th annual St. Andrews area seed exchange will take place on Sunday, February 14th at the Anglican Hall on King St. here in the gardening heart of Charlotte County, St. Andrews by-the-Sea, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Gardeners are encouraged to bring their extra seeds of favourite varieties. The seeds you bring to the seed should be viable and not more than a few years old. Mark them with the name of the crop and the variety and if possible include the year they were collected or purchased.
You should also bring small envelopes or paper you can fold to make containers for the seed you'll be taking home.
You don't have to bring seeds. Seed exchange coordinator Lee Ann Ward says "we always have lots of seeds to give folks, and this is a chance for new or experienced gardeners to get acquainted with new-to-you varieties courtesy of your fellow gardeners here in southwest N.B."
Come and look through a wide range of seed catalogs, including some fascinating Canadian sources of northern-adapted heritage varieties. You can ask experienced gardeners questions you may have about gardening and learn how to save seeds from your favourite open-pollinated (non hybrid) flowers, vegetables, and other kinds of plants.
As the days get longer, and the sun gets stronger, thoughts just naturally turn to gardening. Join your fellow plant and garden lovers at this year's Seedy Sunday. There's no admission charge and no charge for the seeds.
